Licensing

This feature is in AnimateGL Pro. See AnimateGL Pro.

AnimateGL Pro runs on domains with an active license. Licenses are sold and managed through Freemius.

Activate your license

  1. Install and activate AnimateGL Pro.
  2. Open the AnimateGL page. It asks for your AnimateGL Pro license key.
  3. Enter your license key and activate it.

The site then confirms its domain with the AnimateGL license server. The Home tab’s status card shows “Pro is licensed for” your domain when it is done.

Sites per license

Your plan sets how many sites you can activate the license on. A license covers one domain per site. www.example.com and example.com count as the same domain.

Staging and development sites

Pro runs without a license check on these hosts:

  • localhost and local or private IP addresses (127.x, 10.x, 192.168.x, 172.16.x to 172.31.x, and ::1)
  • Domains ending in .local, .test, .localhost, .example or .invalid
  • WordPress Playground (playground.wordpress.net)

The Home tab then says “Pro runs on this development site without a license check.” A staging site on a real domain, such as staging.yoursite.com, is another domain and needs the license activated there.

Moving a license

If you change the site’s domain, activate the license again so it is confirmed for the new domain. To move Pro to another site, deactivate the license on the old site, then activate it on the new one.

When a license ends

When a license is cancelled, or has expired on a plan that doesn’t keep its features, Pro features turn off. Blocks saved with Pro settings still animate with their entrance on scrolling into view, so no content stays hidden. The free features keep working.

A notice on the Dashboard, the Plugins screen and the AnimateGL page says that Pro features are off and why.

The license check in the browser

On a licensed domain, each visitor’s browser asks animategl.com about once a day whether the license is still active. It sends the visitor’s IP address and the page’s address, with no cookies. Mention this in your privacy policy. If your site has a Content Security Policy, allow connect-src https://animategl.com.
